- I was a subscriber to Q-link in the 80's and a year before Q-link
- died. I then purchased a PC and after being bombarded with Qlink
- disk's in the mail....uh...I mean AOL disks :), I finally gave it a
- try for about 8 months. It was very nice and the people connection and
- the message bases reminded me very much of Q-link. Of course there
- were added features and 80 columns and 256 colors, but to be honest
- with you, the shell of Q-link and concept was there.
-
- The people connection was very Q-linkish and the colors where simliar
- to. It definately is an excellent chat system with Instant messages,
- which I think Q-link had too.
-
- And that reminds me of the days when you could go into a free area of
- Q-link and send Instant Messages Galore without any cost. They
- squashed that pretty fast though.
-
- My main reason for leaving AOL was cost though. My AOL bill was
- ringing up at $35-50 dollars a month, compared to a cheap local
- internet provider at $17 for unlimited access and I have newsgroups,
- email, a kick azz web browser, gopher, chat.......
-
- I think AOL needs to somehow justify the cost of using there system or
- come down on their rates otherwise they will lose customers in the
- future as more people become educated about computers.
-
- There customer service still stinks though and interestly enough, the
- lost $10,262,000 dollars in a quarter last year!
